Berryman 3/7 Training Update

Saturday March 7 - Drumm Run is here!
Our last meeting is Wednesday and Saturday is Drumm. Please show up early Saturday if you are volunteering. Run is at 8:00am. The long range weather forecast looks good. Don't forget, after the run, we are going to do another clean up loop of the entire course. This is week six of your Berryman training. Join us!

Sunday March 8 - Updated 5:00pm Saturday
7:00am across from the wildlife enclosure, in Fleming Park. This is a great opportunity for all runners, all skill levels, any distance, even late risers. You can start at any time. Just park and join in. We will be running loops around a one mile trail. It's a little hilly, a little technical, will be a little muddy, has cool views of Lake Jacomo. If you show up late, no big deal. Stop whenever you like. Again, it's a one mile loop. Stop and start when you feel like it and run your own pace. Double click this map to enlarge. We are going to try and park right at the trail head. There is a gate that may be locked though. If so, see the alternate parking location. If you are there at 7:00, we will run a trail over to the loop. If you are late and the gate is still locked, just run the road. It's less than a mile away. Hope to see you there.

Last Weekend
This photo was actually taken the weekend before, at Shawnee Mission Park, by Casey Yunger.

Unity Village Snow day. Don Fredrick, Randy Nuttall and I made fresh tracks in the new snow. It was hard work but a great morning to be out.

After running, Don and I had coffee at the Unity Coffee shop. We talked about life and religion. (I know, I was afraid lighting would strike the place). I learned a lot more about Don and Unity. He actually moved to this area because of Unity. He was once very involved and his wife graduated from Unity. Small world.

For those who don't know Don Fredrick, he worked at GENESYS a few years back. He's the guy who had open heart surgery and suffered TWO broken backs (motorcycle and a ladder). In spite of all that, he still ran Berryman in 2007 and then again 2008. My hero. Awesome human being.

Randy and Don at what is left of a sweat lodge out in the woods of Unity Village. And they say they aren't a cult.

Sunday morning I drove to Landahl, stepped out of the car and jumped right back in. I bagged it. At the same time, Matt, Angela, Pete, Casey and John Fralick manned up! Well I heard Angela wasn't quite as manly but she ran more than I did in 9 degrees! I give you guys credit for toughness. Here is a photo of tough Matt protecting his oh-so-sensitive man nipples.
