John Robert (Jonathan's Dad) Matt Perry and I ran Rockin-K last Saturday. I was signed up for the 50-mile and decided, before I even started, to drop to the marathon. This was a tough race. It's open prairie, steep bluffs, sand and small canyons. The scenery is very diverse. The winds reached 60mph according to John's wife Belinda. We crossed water several times, once above the bottom of our shorts, depending on how tall you are. There were also beaver dam crossings which are wet and squishy. It was rough. I struggled the entire time. Matt and John both had very strong finishes. Very strong.
The following photos are complements of Belinda Roberts.

Me
I'll let you in on a secret only intended for the wold wide web......I think John is going to run the 50-mile at Berryman! After last Saturday, there is no question he can.Matt's finish. He came in under six which was better than Pete and Casey last year. He has one more 40-mile race, Free State April 25th, and then its the 50-mile buckle for Matt. Almost there.
Take a minute to watch this short video. Whether you are training for a marathon, laid off from work, struggling with family issues, finances, etc. this may give you some perspective.

Don't forget to send me your shirt size by Thursday (tomorrow afternoon). We are putting our orders in the the Berryman jerseys.
